Debbie Johnson says the Barriere Annex Thrift Shop is working in community spirit to support as many organizations as possible through donations from the not for profit shop.

Since March 2023 Johnson has been dedicated to choosing an organization to donate either items or a cheque, saying, “The donations we have been making over the past six months with a bank draft, keeping it anonymous and gifting it to them in an envelope. They are monthly donations. We’ve given to the First Responders, Cat Rescue, The Barriere Outdoor Club, Search and Rescue, Chu Chua Fire Department and Barriere Fire Department. Some organizations we donate things to like the Teen Scene at ‘The Ridge’ and we donate things like craft supplies and things the kids might use or enjoy.”

The Annex has also donated cameras to the local 4H club used on a loan basis through the club which the kids learn photography with.

Every Christmas for the past four years there has been a shopping night for kids originally started by Johnson, where the kids go shopping for gifts for Mom and Dad now being coordinated by Doris Tweten locally.

The Annex Thrift Store is open:

Tues. and Wed. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thurs. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sat. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information check out the Barriere Annex Thrift Shop on Facebook for current donation needs or closures and special event info.

The shop operates under the umbrella of St. Paul’s Church in Barriere as a charitable organization. If you would like to meet Debbie feel free to drop by the shop during business hours mentioned and pick up her card.
