The Anti Violence Society (AVS) has been working towards a new direction to directly assist women and children leaving domestic abuse.

Meetings were held with the Y-Womens shelter and the Elizabeth Fry Society to discuss needs and funding gaps. As a result the AVS have donated $7,000 to the Y-Womans shelter to help cover costs of things such as: Baby supplies, replacement IDs, and transportation costs to appointments. Some of the funds will also go to the children’s therapeutic camp program.

Another cheque for $1,500 was donated to the Elizabeth Fry Society to help them provide supplies for babies entering their shelter.
