Family Day weekend was filled with fun and games as various activities were offered throughout Barriere.

A pyjama party held at The Ridge on Sunday offered arts and crafts, movies, two bouncy castles and a concession for the little ones to enjoy. Midway through the evening, a visit from Uncle Chris the Clown had children and parents entertained and laughing as he performed magic tricks.

As they entered the doors, event-goers were provided tickets to vote for their favourite cakes, homemade and entered by local bakers.

Josie Crosman’s bubble gum cake won a gift card for receiving the most votes and Jayde Nickel was the lucky recipient of the popular dessert.

Tasha Buchanan, said this year’s event was, once again, a great success and about 250 people attended the festivities.

As the event is volunteer-driven, she added the event wouldn’t happen without them and would like to extend a warm thank you to all of those who helped to make “this event as awesome as it is:” Liz Gilbertson, Carrie Johnston, Councillor Amanda Sabyan, Wim and Antoon Houben, Jo Palmer, Deb Wilson, Caleb Cartwright, Adrian Lindal, Elizabeth Ekins, Fall Fair Ambassadors Jonathan Fennell and Haille Johnson, Jen Crosman, Riley Buchanan, Dori McRae, Judy Armstrong and Scarlett and Lilliana Wright.

Financial assistance for Family Fun Night came from the Government of British Columbia as well as the District of Barriere.
