We are into the third month of our 2022 4-H year. The projects are all well underway.

Photography has done a couple of meetings and outings, including a night time painting with light outing and a trip to the BC Wildlife Park to focus on people and animal portraits.

Beef had their first weigh in on Mar. 27.

Sheep had their first meeting and worked on outlining their plans for the year. Horse have enjoyed a get together and have spring riding lessons planned.

Rabbit have had a couple of Zoom meetings and one in-person event. Goat projects are also getting started.

We had our Speech Day on Feb. 27, 2022.

Part of 4-H is a communication aspect. Members may choose to do a speech, demo or speak-and-show.

There were lots of people in attendance and it was great for it to be in-person and semi-normal again. Everyone really enjoyed having spectators to present their speeches to. The seniors also did impromptus and everyone did great. Tessa Salle and Bella MacDougall were our MC’s for the day.

The junior winners are: 1st- Zoe Kershaw, 2nd- Grace Farrow, 3rd- Eva-Mae Ekins.

The senior winners are: 1st- Chloe Smith, 2nd- Haille Johnson, 3rd- Brad Fennell.

A big thank you to the Smith family for organizing the day, and to our leaders Mrs. Salle and Ms. Cartwright for being there and helping with timing and scoring to make our day go smoothly.

Also, a huge thank you to our six amazing judges who volunteered their time to come and judge our speech day. Your support of us and the 4-H program is truly appreciated.

The senior judges were; Alexander Peterson, Doris Tweten, and Ashley MacDougall, and the junior judges were; Christine Oates, Louise Lodge, and Sara-Kate Smith.

Several members of the 4-H club recently attended the Country Night Blazers game in Kamloops.

We are looking forward to the rest of the year, and we will keep you posted on our happenings.
