In loving memory ~
On March 18, 2025, after 96 years and a life well lived, mom passed peacefully on to her next journey.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Judy, Brian (Pam), and Merilee (Gerry). She will also be missed by her sister Hazel and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ross "Jimmy" Hamelock in 2002.
Mom will be best remembered for her love of life on the farm, her quick wit, and her love of animals. She never forgot her Alberta roots and entertained us with her experiences growing up in the little prairie cabin. She especially loved to talk about the shenanigans that she and her brother Don got up to. Mom journeyed to BC and after working on ranches in the Cariboo, she planned to return to Alberta, but a stop in Kamloops, and meeting our father put paid to that idea. They married in 1948 and eventually moved to Dixon Valley where they enjoyed many years on the farm providing family and friends with their own special memories - and she was not shy in trying to send a puppy or kitten home when the cars were packed and heading out.
We are thankful for the exceptional care and love that surrounded her at Pine Grove Care Centre, where she will be fondly remembered for her enthusiastic Bingo playing and the singing of the occasional ditty or poem. We will be forever grateful for the attentive care provided by Dr. Howie and all the care staff during mom's final days.
At mom's request, there will be no formal service. Feel free to donate to your favourite charity in her memory.
We have no doubt that mom has saddled her horse and is riding the range, listening to the birds, and enjoying the sun on her face and breeze in her hair.
